Calling myself a success coaching was a huge hurdle for me. It sounded good, google liked it, but truthfully the word “success” has always scared me. It’s like I had to prove something, or beat someone out of something, to get where I wanted to be, and that’s not who I am.
As a creative (songwriter/artist), success was always WAY OUT THERE. “Only a few make it”, as the industry would say. That, of course, meant I was either going to be a success or a failure, with no control over how or who determines it. Needless to say, I had to restructure the definition in order to enjoy the art of creating music.<
I read a blog post from entrepreneur Ty Bennet called The True Definition of Success that literally changed how I feel about success. He told the story of looking at his newborn daughter, not visualizing how much money she was going to make, or car she would drive, but instead how happy she would be, the good she would do, and the person she would become.
“Looking at this little girl with her whole life ahead of her, I realized that success is not about external things. Money, power and fame are results; byproducts that come from who you are. The true definition of success is: To Become the Person You Are Capable of Becoming. The emphasis is on becoming, not on obtaining. Each of us has unlimited potential and it is the pursuit of that potential that is true success.”
To become, to grow, to experience the journey (whatever your goal or vision may be) is the mindset for success coaching with me. If you are in, ready for the ride, let’s dive into your “next step”!
