Getting Started

Sep 18, 2024 | Personal Growth, Resilience Building

Right off the bat, there are a million obstacles. Tiny irritations steering you off the track you so desperately want to be on. As I am writing this blog, I am experiencing a few myself: the phone call; the dogs wanting out….in…..out; the doorbell (Prime, of course); and did I mention the “other” job(s), responsibilities, lists that have to get done today? BUT……I need, want, HAVE to get started, or I might quit going after my dream, and that’s not an option!

So, let’s make a pack….. together. In spite of all the distractions, we WILL start this journey of becoming, growing. embracing the challenge, reaching beyond your grasp. That’s where the magic is, the breakthrough, the revelation of your hidden potential, so let’s do it!

Below is my “Getting Started List” that you can print out, cut out, laminate, do whatever it takes to make you remember that you CAN and you WILL do this thing!

  1. Know WHY you want to start something new. Write it down and put it where you can see it daily, because that’s your fuel!
  2. Make a PLAN (a mindmap so to speak) by setting a few MILESTONES in place just so your head knows where the markers are. Be realistic. Be wise. Don’t try to make it perfect or get caught up in comparison. That will only slow you down.
  3. Protect a SET TIME each day to work on your dream job, dream project, dream change (personally or professionally). The time can change only if YOU want it to. Remember that you are in control of your time, not vise versa.
  4. Celebrate a WIN. However small of a step you took today, make it BIGGER than BIG! You took a step! That’s huge! Name that win and claim that win! This, in my opinion, is the most important part of the process.
  5. Cut yourself some GRACE. “Not all who wander are lost.” If you get off track, just get back on.

If you find yourself discouraged and alone on this journey, I’m a complimentary call away. Believe me, you are worth your dream, or you wouldn’t have it. Let’s celebrate that!
