BE STILL
Intro to Momma Bear…..I struggle with STILL . Not a great problem to have if you are writing a book of meditations!
It’s not that I can’t sit still. I can. But my mind? No way. It just gets up and goes wherever it wants, when it wants, for however long it wants. I wish I could change that about me.
Baby steps.
Goal for today: to clear my head. To feel the silence and be ok with that.
“God, teach us to pause in this moment, to tuck ourselves into the curve of your slow arm, that we may know the miracle of now, the gift of this moment: You beside and beyond us, welcoming us outside of all we measure, and standing with us in it. May we see the goodness of our still hours and days, sunrises, sunsets, and the darkness where our rest is found. Order us, that we may stand within time holding your hand. That we may know we are enough, not because of what we make of these hours, but because within these hours ——with You—we are being made.” Micha Boyett
Be still.
And know.
That I am God.

Breathing Under Water: Spirituality and the Twelve Steps by Father Richard Rohr, OFM.
Every one of us suffers from some sort of addiction. For some, it might be a television series, while others struggle with a crippling reliance on drugs or alcohol. The cycle of dependency always leaves you wanting more; you are never satisfied no matter how much you indulge. If you are ready to break the unfulfilling cycle and experience internal freedom, this insightful book offers an optimistic view and can support you on your journey.
“Brother Rohr may just take you to places you’ve both avoided and longed for, to truth, union, joy, laughter, and, greatest of all, to your own precious self, here on earth with us, child of God.”—Anne Lamott, from the foreword.
Discover the growth that’s possible when we understand our authentic selves as God intended by exploring more deeply the Enneagram tool, paired with profound scriptural insights.
Vancil offers a compelling biblical case for the Enneagram by drawing from John 12:24, which describes how we, like seeds, construct a protective coat that helps us survive in a world where we encounter challenges and insecurities. But for us to truly live a fruitful life, we must allow the protective coat to soften and fall away in order to grow.
“It’s not always the people who start out the smartest who end up the smartest.”
Dweck offers new insights into her now famous and broadly embraced concept. She introduces a phenomenon she calls false growth mindset and guides people toward adopting a deeper, truer growth mindset. She also expands the mindset concept beyond the individual, applying it to the cultures of groups and organizations. With the right mindset, you can motivate those you lead, teach, and love—to transform their lives and your own.

The Gifts of Imperfection by Brené Brown.
What transforms this book from words on a page to effective daily practices are the ten guideposts to wholehearted living. The guideposts not only help us understand the practices that will allow us to change our lives and families, they also walk us through the unattainable and sabotaging expectations that get in the way.
Brené writes, “This book is an invitation to join a wholehearted revolution. A small, quiet, grassroots movement that starts with each of us saying, ‘My story matters because I matter.’ Revolution might sound a little dramatic, but in this world, choosing authenticity and worthiness is an absolute act of resistance.”
Just This: Prompts And Practices For Contemplation by Richard Rohr.
Just This is a collection of brief and evocative meditations and practices that invite us to cultivate the gift of waking up to the beauty of reality in all its glorious ordinariness. With his signature blend of contemplation, theology, and pastoral sensitivity, Fr Richard Rohr creates a spaciousness for the soul to grow into a kind of seeing that goes far beyond merely looking to recognizing and thus appreciating. This is the heart of contemplation, the centerpiece of any inner dialogue that frees us from the traps of our perceptions and preoccupations. The contemplative mind does not tell us what to see; it teaches us how to see what we behold.
