What does it look like to be intentional about community? For me, it started with saying yes to something outside of my routine.
I set aside my to-do list and accepted an invitation to kayak at Bays Mountain with friends. We were going for the stars—the moon rising, the night sky in motion. But right as the sun went down, rain began to fall, and the clouds covered the view. Crazy thing? It didn’t change the experience at all.
Because it wasn’t about the stars—it was about the people. Friends who make space, invite you along, and value shared time more than perfect conditions.
When the kayaks were packed away and everyone went back to their own routines, I carried home a deeper realization: community is natural, freeing, and life-giving when it’s intentional. It’s not about doing more, it’s about choosing moments that nurture relationships and shared values.
Friends keep friends active, engaged, and challenged in healthy ways. Not too much, not too little—just enough to remind us we’re cared for.
Sometimes all it takes is saying yes…even if the stars don’t show up. 🌙✨
