This week, I’ve been learning to pay attention to details.
For some people, that comes naturally. For me? Not so much.
I got my first round of edits back from Momma Bear Meditations: Curious, and let’s just say there were a lot of notes. Tiny things. Little tweaks. Endless reminders to check, adjust, and refine. I started feeling that familiar frustration bubble up—again? another detail?
And then, in the middle of my grumbling, came this quiet nudge:
“Hey, maybe this is what you need to learn right now—how to pay attention to the details.”
It hit me. Somewhere along the way, I learned to hurry. I grew up thinking that speed meant success and that slowing down meant missing out. But I’ve also learned that whatever we’ve learned… we can unlearn.
So, I went searching for tools to help me slow down, and I found a little Etsy shop that sells “Art of Noticing” cards—tiny invitations to pause and pay attention. The first one I pulled said, “Watch a plant grow.”
My first thought? Absolutely not.
That would take forever. I don’t have the patience for that.
But this morning, I found myself at a greenhouse where a friend was planting, and I thought, Okay. Try it.
So I did.
I scooped the soil. I pressed the seeds. I laughed at the mess I made. And as I watched those tiny dill seeds disappear beneath the dirt, I realized something:
Growth always happens in the details.
The press and twist. The scrape and smooth. The tuck and cover. Each small act matters. And maybe that’s true for us, too.
We spend so much of life trying to skip ahead—rushing toward the bloom, the breakthrough, the “big reveal.” But the real transformation happens in the quiet, unnoticed steps. The ones that feel ordinary. The ones that take time.
Paying attention to details isn’t about perfection. It’s about presence. It’s choosing to slow down enough to notice where the growth is actually happening.
So yes, I’m watching my little dill seed grow. And I’m learning to do the same with myself. 🌱
