Stay F.I.T.

Sep 11, 2025 | Emotional Health, Resilience Building

This past weekend, I had the privilege of speaking at our Annual Fall Performance Medicine Providers Conference. Performance Medicine is our family business—founded by my husband—and it’s an integrative medical clinic focused on the prevention of disease. In a nutshell, they help people be proactive about their health.

My part in the day was to bring in the emotional health component, because our feelings can either fuel our health journey or sabotage it. Left unchecked, they can hold us back from achieving the results we want. That’s why I shared with the group a simple practice I use in my own life, something I call Stay F.I.T.

For me, that acronym is a reminder to be flexible, intentional, and truthful. When feelings show up, I’ve learned not to push them away but to lean in and bend just enough to notice what’s happening. That space gives me the chance to be intentional—to step back, reflect, and ask what’s really going on beneath the surface. And in that reflection, I try to be truthful. Many of us have been taught to ignore or mask what we feel, but emotional health requires honesty, especially with ourselves.

When we practice flexibility, intentionality, and truthfulness, we build resilience. Resilience is the ability to move and thrive in the face of adversity and stress. Isn’t that what we all want? To be able to navigate life’s hard moments without losing ourselves along the way? The good news is, resilience isn’t something you’re born with—it’s something you can grow through practice.

Of course, some days you’ll nail it. You’ll pause, lean in, reflect, and tell the truth, and it will feel like everything just clicks. Other days, you won’t. You’ll react too quickly, skip the pause, or avoid the truth. And that’s okay. This isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. The more you practice staying F.I.T., the more natural it becomes. Over time, you’ll find yourself growing stronger, more resilient, and more emotionally healthy.

So today, I encourage you: stay F.I.T. …because you can.
