Discovering Myself

DIVE IN

There’s that moment when you know you have to take a risk to get what you want. My dad did that a lot. He was a dreamer, a high achiever, a believer in YOU CAN if you want to. I got to watch him rise and fall, but never give up.

Dad always found a way to say, “best life I ever lived“. My upbringing in a nutshell.

I went to college to become a famous singer/songwriter, get married, and live happily ever after. And I almost did. I majored in music, got a teaching job, and eventually married the love of my life, but my dream of being a singer/songwriter still lingered. I new I had to try.

EXPLORE THE OPTIONS

I first pitched to big record labels and got nothing. It was one kind rejection after another, which should have made me want to give up, but I have a lot of my Dad in me!

There was the option of me recording my own music, then creating a publishing company to house, but that meant I would have to market myself as the singer.

Out of my comfort zone for sure! BUT I can, and I did.

Noah & Company Publishing opened the door to numerous opportunities to share my music, my favorite being the album “O Christmas Angel”.

Proceeds for this album helped build a Habitat for Humanity house in Anderson County (where I lived at the time).

Note: the album cover was created by one of the children who recorded with me. I learned so much about the power of community.

DISCOVER YOURSELF

I never stopped teaching.

It’s in my blood. In fact, I went on to get my masters in educational leadership and continued directing middle and high school choirs.

Every opportunity to go to the next level of stretching myself, I took.

For example, Doxology II, Praise and Worship Conference in Yaounde, Cameroon. I was asked by Armel Fabrice Fosse, translator for the US Embassy in Yaounde, to be the keynote speaker of Doxology II.

It was 3 weeks of personal discovery.

Learning how to communicate without knowing the language.

Trusting without having all the answers.

Listening to problems without having to fix them.

Encouragement was my superpower that was life changing for them… and for me.

Best Life I Ever Lived

I had found what I was meant to do.

I love walking with people as they unlock what’s true. rediscover who they are, and step into the life they were made for.

This work isn’t just a profession—it’s a calling.

It is the heart behind everything I do.
